Pupil Premium

At Woodlands Infant School, we are committed to ensuring that every child is supported to achieve well, feel included and thrive as the best me I can be.

Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to support pupils who may be disadvantaged. This includes pupils who are currently eligible for free school meals, pupils who have been eligible for free school meals in the past six years, children who are looked after and children who have previously been looked after.

We use our Pupil Premium funding carefully to help remove barriers to learning and make sure that pupils receive the support, opportunities and experiences they need. At Woodlands, this support is rooted in strong relationships, high expectations and a clear understanding of each child as an individual.

Our Pupil Premium funding may be used to support:

high-quality teaching and learning across the school
early identification of need and carefully planned intervention
language, communication, phonics, reading, writing and mathematics support
social, emotional and mental health support
attendance, punctuality and family support
nurture provision and support with wellbeing and regulation
access to enrichment opportunities, visits and wider school experiences
resources, training and approaches that help pupils to access the full curriculum

As an infant school, we know that the early years of education are crucial. We want all children to build secure foundations in communication, early reading, mathematics, personal development and confidence. Our aim is for every pupil to feel safe, known and valued, so that they can fully access school life and make strong progress from their individual starting points.

School leaders and governors regularly review the impact of Pupil Premium spending. We look carefully at pupils’ attainment, progress, attendance, wellbeing, participation and wider development to make sure our approaches are making a positive difference.
